“Thank you for an exceptional hike. It was without doubt the highlight of our trip to Uganda. The team was professional, caring and careful, and we returned tired but very happy with our experience. Expect spectacular scenery, moments far from the world on top of legendary mountains.
More details now for future hikers. Our profiles : we’re a French couple, 34 years old. We stayed 18 days in Uganda for a self guided trip. We had our own car (Toyota 4X4) we rented in Kampala.
We’re in pretty good shape, we grew up in the Alps and we’re used to doing several hikes a year, one-day outings of around 1100 meters of positive vertical drop.
We opted for a four-day route. Base Camp – Sine Camp – Mutinda Camp (+ Look out) – Forest View Camp – Base Camp.

Our email exchanges with the management teams were clear and easy.
Musabe was a fascinating guide, and his excellent command of English enabled us to discuss many different subjects and many facets of his country. He was always very concerned about our well-being and safety, making sure we never overstepped our limits. He always gave precise descriptions of our route to come.
We felt that the hikes required a minimum of training and fitness. It’s a good idea to check with the guides, who will provide all the necessary information. The scenery is spectacular and this 4-day program enabled us to cover 4 different biotopes – we would have loved to have had the time to do more. We saw amazing birds, a few endemic mammals like monkeys and antilopes.
The camps are set in magnificent locations. Comfort is rudimentary – but no less so than in the mountain refuges back home in France. Remember to bring your sleeping bag AND pillows, which are not provided.
We were very lucky with the weather, but we did notice how quickly it changes! So don’t underestimate the risk of rain, and make sure you have waterproof equipment.
It was a wonderful experience, one we’ll remember for a long time to come. Our warmest thanks go to our team, who were always warm, attentive and patient, and especially to Musabe, our guide, who did his job remarkably well.”
