Introduction
My name is Steven Donnelly, and I’m excited to share our incredible experience hiking in the Rwenzori Mountains. Alongside my wife, Jamie, we completed a challenging 10-day trek to the summit of Margherita Peak from August 29th to September 7th, 2024.
The Guides
One of the standout features of our hike was the exceptional guidance we received from Thembo Remegio and Thembo Harrington. Having hiked in many countries, we can confidently say that they were the best guides we’ve ever had. Their professionalism and attentiveness to our health and safety were evident throughout the trek. They approached every challenge with quiet confidence, ensuring we felt secure and supported every step of the way.
The Porters
We also want to extend our gratitude to the 11 porters who accompanied us. Their hard work and dedication were crucial to our experience. They consistently went out of their way to assist us, making our trek not only manageable but truly enjoyable.
